| checked to insure they are within tolerances. 2. Yes a mineral dissolver would be a good way to go. 3. Naval jelly has always worked well for me on various rusted parts. If really bad, a rotating wire brush would be a good first step to removing all the really loose stuff. But overall that whole area is a loosing battle and I wouldn't spend the effort. 4. Stamped band clamps are one way to go. I've used aircraft grade from Wicks Aircraft Supply. Do a search there for ABA Sure Seal Clamp.
